Copper Sheet Covering of Garbhagudi Roof - Progessive Stages
‘Anujna Kalasha’ was performed on 30.01.2017.
The roof tiles were removed by `shramadaana` work, starting on April 10th, 2017. Then a team of carpenters, led by Shr. Madhava Achari took over for the wood work. Teak wood planks were applied on the roof support beams ("pakkas"). Then, copper plates were fitted on top of these and hammered with wooden hammers to make the surface even. Then, "dumbe" (for water drainage) was fitted in. The corners were decorated with majestic serpent head designs. The overhanging sides were fitted with brass designs with tiny bells hanging from them. The surface was given 2 coats of spray polish. The copper laying was finished by 1st week of August, 2018. The entire copper work was ably undertaken by Mr. Yogiraj Puttur. 2 coats of Spray painting was done in March 2019 - gave a majestic look to the Garbhagudi.
